Forum:

hi

what difference does it make if u take off the front anti roll bar on a sporty

dan

massive amounts, and it is

massive amounts, and it is legal in the uk as i have phoned up VOSA and spoken to them, and they shouldn't fail you on the MOT either.
tom

if you look by the front

if you look by the front wheels you should see a nut on either side remove these and also above the bash plate there are two hangers to undo and hey presto sorted its off

looks like while i was out

looks like while i was out tonight green laning the anti roll bar snapped off had the u tupe shaped bar hangin from underneath will have a better look tomor looks like it save me a job hahah

Indeed a big difference

I agree with Jeph.

The front suspension will become softer and more obedient to your commands when off-roading

Legality

IT IS ILLEGAL TO REMOVE ANTI ROLL BARS AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE ON ANY PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY.

Recently i posted on this very situation, so i suggest refering to that post.

I notice that jeffH has posted differently, citing the fact that he has been advised by VOSA, this leaves two options.

He is a liar.

He has been misinformed by someone in the VOSA call centre, rather than being put through to the correct department.

As i do not know; i am not prepared to make any speculative comments as to which of the two options it is.

What i will do is to clarify the situation: any critical component which includes steering, suspension, and brakes cannot be be modified by removal of components. MOT testers have been advised of this trend, and have to fail any vehicle with components missing, and refuse to road test the vehicle as it is deemed as dangerous to drive.
These are covered by a multitude of complex regulations, and while a complex subject, i have the full regulations and Statutes which clearly state this modification as illegal.
