Funnily enough I have been

Funnily enough I have been googling on the sirion rally 2 & 4 and from that discovered that a British company were responsible for designing and tuning the cars for the U.K market. One of these to bring the power output up is the air intake system you describe. So to change the air intake may increase power further or it may mean that the engine may not breath the same and bring this down:

Rally 2 tuning

Daihatsu UK teamed up with Auto Immage Ltd Bedfordshire to tune the little sirion to maximise its performance levels. They were unable to achieve any improvement from conventional tuning i.e. ignition timing, fuelling as the ECU just compensated. So they set out on another path using a reprofiled exhaust camshaft, Free Flow air filter and a different ECU and (coupled with larger 15" wheels and uprated brake pads) They referred to this as 'hard won' improvements and I'm sure if it was a simple as fitting a different Airflow they would certainly have done this and improved it further. There is a good article. Do a Google, type in Daihatsu Sirion Rally 2 and take a look at Evo Car reviews.

Lets not forget that for a little 1.3 non Turbo engine the Rally 2 is already pretty special.

The ITG filter in the Rally

The ITG filter in the Rally makes a big difference too if in doubt stick in a a standard paper element from the 1.3 and you'll be staggered how different the car feels. So not sure how much an induction kit would add as on many cars those don't give you any real benefit if the induction tracts is efficient to start.

AllanB re ITG filter

Was the ITG Air filter fitted as original equipment on Rally 2? Could you say where is the best place to buy i.e. would I have to go to ITG direct or do Daihatsu sell these?

sirion rally

Finally someone else with a rally have owned my rally 2 for 2 years love it to bits put on one of those motorworld £20 induction kits about 6 months ago with a simple cold air feed behind the grille intending to upgrade to something else if that sort of thing suited the ,car been distracted by one thing and another since tho so not had chance, little thing sounds mean but as another entry mentions car seems to get a bit choked at higher revs have scoured the net for inspiration on intake routing, tuning etc but not came up with anything sirionable dont no if anyone reading this can help ,anyway happy sirioning they a totally underrated car and i not seen another one since buying mine
