Iv currently got a L reg fieldman, what i want to know is can i fit rear seats in it. If so, and any of you have done this. What model was the interior from, and was it just a case of bolting the new ones in. Im also looking at fitting rear side windows, so any info on what model glass i need will be helpfull. I know after fitting rear seat's (if possible), I will lose all the boot space which is not a concern as the fieldmans only duties are pulling my boat back and forth from the beach. It may also be used as a second vehicle on times, but with no need to carry anything. The reason of adding extra seats is, the fieldman does a good job of towing my boat. And now the wife and daughter wants to start joining me and my son out on the boat fishing. So rather than going to the expensive of changing to a 4x4 with more seats, i thought it would be easier to add seats to what i have already. Thanx Barry

All early models came as pick up's, they were fitted with seats, interiors, and the appropriate back for a Fieldman or various 5 seat models.
To replace the truck with side windows, remove the top and buy a secondhand top with side windows, around £40-50 secondhand. Buy the back seats and carpets from another secondhand vehicle and just bolt them in. The mounting holes are all there, they will have to be located.
To remove the top, there are lines of bolts or srcews which hold it on, depending on model and year, they may be fitted with plastic caps, and some covered with trim. Remove all the bolts and lift the top up, pack with timber across the body, ensure the rubber seal either stays on the vehicle or comes off with the top. Lift off and store ready for selling, this is easily done by two individuals, one either side.
Clean and paint, if necessary, the top of the body where the top fits, clean and check the rubber seal, and fit it in place. Lift the new top into position and place on wooden blocks, remove the blocks and drop the new top down squarely or it may move the seal above the cab. Fit all bolts loosely and tighten progressively.
The last one i did took two of us 15 minutes, its that easy when you have done a few.

Thanx. So basicly the rear seats from an independant should fit, so if i got a complete interior i could fit the lot. Also the rear top cant be removed as it is a solid shell, and not the type with a bolt off back section.

It's an F73? Short Wheel Base Indipendent? The principles are the same, except you have to 'pop out' the blanke plates in the rear to replace with your second hand windows. These can be a pain, but they do come out with some couxing. For a cheeper option (don't know how nice your car is) some people mastic clear perspex into the opening if they can't get replacment windows. Not a good look, if it's a good car, but works to a point.
The only part that may not bolt straight in is the rear of the back seat. If your doner vehicle is quite an early F70, 75, 80 or 85 the rear of the seat may only lock down to one loop of meatle in the center of the rear, instead of to points at either side. If this is the case it is not a majour issue, as you can drill plate and bolt the older loop straight to the fllo pan. (At least you can in the LWB. I am assuming you will be able to in the SWB too. Though the fule tank might be in the way)
