2 wd to 4 wd

Forum:

Thanxs for all the advise I shall now reverse when taking out of 4wd cos I have auto hubs I just hope I have not damaged anything all I've been doing is shifting gear knob and driving off.
Why I ask about 4wd in reverse is my drive is on a 30deg gradiant when the snow was down I could'nt reverse up it kept slipping but to drive up it was a dodle.

2WD TO 4WD

When you put it in 4wd did you drive forward first to lock the hubs?

Once the hubs have locked the system should work in reverse.

However, to throw a spanner in the works if you put it in 4wd and drive onto your drive you can then put it back in 2wd and by reversing out unlock the hubs. If you reverse onto the drive you will need to pull out and then reverse, if you see what i mean.

If you just move the lever, and drive off, it will drop out of 4wd on it's own. But the point is, the potential damage to your drive chain and extra tyre were in the mean time.
