Well my hand brake light is

Well my hand brake light is stuck on I suppose the switch is faulty. My alternator light used to come on and off. The alternator was fine. Brushes were fine. Generated plenty of juice. After I cleaned the armature in the alternator and bought a new battery the warning light went away.

Handbrake /alternator light

Had similar problems, turned out that the handbrake switch was sticking and the battery was on its way out, at the time I had lots of silly eletrical switch problems that a squirt of WD 40 sorted out.

Well funny but the handbrake

Well funny but the handbrake switch is just a contact and it works properly. The brake fluid level will also trigger the light. Mine is full but now like you my brake and alternator lights are coming on and off as I drive. Sometimes they blink with the blinker too!

I'm stumped.

All Jap cars I have worked

All Jap cars I have worked with seem to have insane electrics. Usually more than one warning light will come on when there is a problem. This is offten due to a shared power suplly or the like. I would guess that the aultinator is dying, and that the break light is just 'joining in for the hell of it'. To be sure put a multi meter direct on the battery. It should be about 11.5-13 volts at rest. With the engine runninr the voltage should be anything from 13.5 - 15 volts (depending how healthy your charge / regulator circuit is).
Does you car have to in dash volt meter? If so that should be sitting steady about a third to half way up the green section above the 12 volt marker when the engine is running.
