just bought my first daihatsu 4track and luv it but cannot work out what the switch to left of steering columb marked 4 h is for can anyone help many thanks

Island, You have a later mod

Island,
You have a later model, with the push button 4wd select. Check your transfer case knob. It should say 2H-N-4L. When changing from 2H to 4H, all you do is press the button, and lock the front hubs if they are manual ones. Then, when in 4H, you want to go to 4L, you use the transfer case lever. Someone correct me if I am wrong, as I have the trusty 2H-4H-N-4L transfer case lever.

Yep, its been retro fitted with an earlier transfer case. So now, the 4wd button on the dash is just for show.
