Why are you on your third head gasket? when you skim the head or deck the engine block it is necessary to replace the head gasket with a thicker one. This is to ensure the correct compression ratio is attained, and compensates by adding the thickness removed from the head when it is skimmed. Replacing the head gasket with a standard one after skimming will result in excess compression and compression pressures, this will blow the new gasket.

When replacing the head gasket it is prudent to replace the bolts, tap out the bolt holes with the correct tap and once cleaned, blow then out with compressed air. Do not use anything on the bolts such as oil, this seals between the threads and causes hydraulic pressure to build up under the bolts as they are tightened. This increases the torque, and leaves the head bolts under tightened, and in severe cases; will lead to cracking of the engine block.

Where

do I get a thicker one and I cannot find anyone that sells new bolts for a rocky?
