RIGHT IVE CHANGED MY HEAD GASKET GOT IT ALL BACK TOGETHER ON MY SPORTTRAK AND I CANT GET THE ENGINE TO FIRE SO I CHECKED FOR COMPRESSION WITH THE TESTER I GOT NORMAL 13 BAR ON NUMBER 2 3 4 BUT ON NUMBER ONE CYLINDER I GOT 6.5 BAR COULD THIS BE THE VALVE CLEARENCE HAS I NEVER CHECKED FOR THAT OR COULD I HAVE GOT THE TIMING BELT ON WRONG SOMETHINGS WRONG EVEN WITH 6 BAR IT SHOULD FIRE HELP NEEDED

compression

could be several i think, head gasket sealed properly? check if the piston ring is worn? check the valves? im no expert but iv had all these probs relating to non firing engine.

180 degrees out.

If you removed the distributor and then turned the camshaft, there is every possibility the distributor is firing on the exhaust stroke - 180 degrees out.
1. Remove no 1 spark plug
2. Finger over the hole and turn the engine [push in gear] and feel the pressure increase withing no 1 pot. Keep turning until the cylinder head is at maximum height.
3. Remove the distributor cover. Trace number-1 lead to the distributor cap. Is the rotor arm pointing to no-1 cylinder lead?
4. If 'no' then remove and refit the distributor so the rotor points to no-1 lead. Then adjust/set to the timing marks on the fly wheel - use a 12v bulb across the points or if engine starts, use a strobe light.

Compression down on no-1 cylinder could be a problem. You will need to remove the head and look for cracks or damaged valve. There is a chance the valve is burned or unseated.
