rear brake backplate

my 1994 fourtrak rear brake backplates are now corroding and was wondering if they are easy to replace and if so what options on parts availability do i have,many thanks to any replies...bill

The only way to remove and

The only way to remove and replace the backing plates is to remove the rear wheel bearings and their retainers. To do this generally means destroying the retainer ring, so you may as well get a wheel bearing kit, and do them at the same time.

Coating

If you get a good secondhand or new set, it may be practical to have them galvanised, then paint them inside and out. One other option is to powder coat them, this is cheap and gives a considerably longer life.
