Escort vs Shogun

Forum:

Saw something funny today, there is a long village near me you have to drive through and its always busy, cars parked everywhere, people pulling out, reversing in, whatever, you know, there is always people jamming on brakes and rubber necking and as i went through i saw 2 police cars and an ambulance cos an escort had gone into the back of a late 90's shogun, now the shogun i think had a scratch on the rear bumper and the essy's bonnet/front end is now half the size it was when it left the factory lol, it wasnt a major crash but what an impact!!

Escort V Shogun

Glad i have a Shogun then, perhaps its the substantial towbars fitted to most of them which saved it, or the substantial steelwork fitted to models without a towbar to support the rear plastic bumper.

One thing i notice about mine is the incredible flexibility of the plastics fitted to them, they are unbelievably flexible when mine drags its back end, most other vehicles would shatter theirs.

My sister-in-law had a sports-car of some description run into the back of her Suzuki Jimmney. She was a tad anoyed as the car was only a year old, and it broke her rear bumper. However she was slightly cheared by the fact that her rear tie down eyes on the chassis had opened both sides of his cars bonnet like a tin opener as his car slid under hers, lifting her rear wheels off the road. She was even more pleased when Mr. Plod turned up, proclaimed that there was no way this mess was going to be cleared up without a tow truck. Shortly after which she put her Suzi into 4X4 and drove off of the offending Sports-car (taking a resonable proportion of the front end of said car with her). She then towed the remains of the unfortunat wagon out of the traffic flow, and left it on the side of the road. After an inspection a traffic officer let her drive to a garage for a thourough check over. (Turned out that the chassis needed some new paint, as well as the broken bumper). The sports-car was a write off according to her insurers letter of a few weeks later...
