Hello. I have a 1990 2.8 SWB Fourtrak, I removed my wheel today to repaint the rim and check the pads. I noticed a plug the same as the gearbox/trans box and diff plug. Its on the front axle hub ball joint, near the top. I am guessing that its for the ball joint lubrication. I noticed they where a bit dry the other day. Can anyone confirm what they are for? Do you know what grade oil they take(I assume EP-80)?

Hi, its lithium grease that you want to be pumping into that ball joint - gooey red stuff, 24mm socket for the bolt.

Right oh, thanks alot buddy. I am a lorry mechanic so we have the EP100 grease(red) for the auto-lube systems. I will "borrow some of that"
I will prob installed a nipple, I think its going to be a challenge to get the grease into that hole without the use of a gun ^_^

The earlier Scats (wildcats over there, I think) had a grease nipple in that bolt, allowing easy greasing of the knuckle housing. If you want to get tricky, you can do what I did and remove the bolt, drill through the centre, tap a thread, and install a grease nipple.
