Fourtrak f70 - 5th Gear Swingarm Disconnected

Forum:

A friend was assisting me change the gearbox oil on my E reg F70 2.8 Turbo Diesel

to refill the gearbox, instead of undoing the fill bolt on the drivers side he undid an identical bolt on the passenger side of the gearbox.

This bolt was about one inch long and connected to a swing arm, in turn connected to 5th.

I can hear the arm clanging around the bottom of the gearbox and dont think i can hook it back up with a coathanger (I am not particularly willing to try that either).

5th is non-existant as far as the gear-lever is concerned, just like neutral

Is there anything I can do other than removing the entire gearbox assembly (or having it done for me at about £300).

Thanks for any help.

Unfortunately no, you have to

Unfortunately no, you have to pull the box to replace it. There SHOULD have been an aluminium locking tab on that particular bolt. These are put there for a reason. My gearbox sports a very bright, very bold painted sign on the side of gearbox saying "NOT THE OIL FILLER HOLE"
