F78 Fourtrak Diff. Oil?

Forum:

Hi,I'm changing my transmission and diff. oil. My handbook specifies SAE 75/90 for the gearbox/transfer box and SAE 90 or SAE 80/90 for the diffs.
I live in Spain and despite trying three motor factors cannot find SAE 90 or SAE 80/90.
The advice I have been given is to use SAE 75/90.
The car is not used for towing, serious off road or other heavy duty work.
Can any one advise please?
And finally, a 'silly' question. What's the easiest way to refill the transmission oils? I have no specialised equipment.

Over here in the UK we can gear oil in 1 Ltr sqeezy bottles, with a long plastic extension tube, I bought one of these and refilled it from a 5 Ltr container. You can get a syringe type of device, with a plastic extension tube, rather like a grease gun and pump the oil in,( Machine Mart, Clarke CGG500 500cc Oil Suction Gun) there is a method I believe of filling the main gearbox by removing the gear stick and pouring in the amount through the hole revealed !!!!!!!!!!!.

Up to date workshops use a pump system, for replacing oils.

I would think that SAE 75/90 would suffice.

Oils

SAE 75/90 will be fine as it is a Daihatsu specified lubricant, in Spain it will be fully synthetic as most gear oils are. The differing specifications are because the vehicles are "world Market" vehicles, and because they operate in differing temperatures, and can be used with synthetic or mineral gear oils.

Diff Oil

Thanks for the advice.
