Central heater vents...chilly!

Forum:

Hi All,

Quick question. My F78 heater puts warm out through the feet and windscreen vents fine, however I only get cold air from the main vents in the dash...that was a nasty surprise when I first tried them a few days ago. They respond to adjusting the fan speed, but it's just damn cold, not hot air at all.

Can anyone shed some light? is there a pipework fitting somewhere that may be blocked or disconnected?

Cheers!

Hi,

I think you'll find it's been designed like that - certainly the case on my ancient F70.

All of my older cars (Vauxhall, Ford, Honda & Rover) < 1990 seem to have either cold air at face level or either hot or cold. I personally like cold air on face and hot on feet..... unlike my 1999 Skoda Felicia where the face vents are the same temp as everywhere else....

thanks for that, I wasn't sure if that was the case or not. I tend to stick it on my feet too, or between the screen and feet. Warms up eventually!

I've got a H reg F70 van, I get hot air through all the vents. Have you only just got the car, seeing as you've never used the heating before?

I tend to only use the heater on the windscreen setting, I find it better to be able to see(just about), although, my fingers do get damn cold Blum 3

Chilly middle !!!!!!!

Hi.

I have a '92 F75 Fourtrak and all I get from the main dash vents is cold air. It seems from previous posts this is how they were constructed. Plenty of heat for screen and footwell vents.

Most were made that way, but with a little ducting you can easily modify them, and many have.
