New to Forum and Fourtraks, Couple of fieldman questions...

Forum:

Hello there,

Been reading this site for a couple of weeks as I'm thinking of buying a Daihatsu Fourtrak Fieldman and am trying to gather up a bit of information as despite always having a soft spot for them I don't actually know that much about the different specs etc. Ideally I'm after one of the later fieldmans (1999/2000).

Was there only the one wheelbase available in these or two like the car version?

Was the range and 4WD selection still on the little lever on the later models or did they go onto a button/solenoid arrangement? I'd prefer the lever really but this is only a minor thing.

Are there two different versions for the rear part of the roof and sides(if that makes any sense)? Some I've seen look like a conventional van but others are a grey colour and look like they could be unbolted to make a pickup. Aesthetically I prefer the first option but again it's not too important.

Are there any specific places that they're advertised for sale as I've looked at the usual Auto trader, ebay, local paper etc but only found one which I've been genuinely interested in, unfortunately this was already sold.

If anyone could help answer any of these questions or help in any other way then I'd really appreciate it.

Many thanks

There are two wheel bases.

There are two wheel bases. The SWB is the solid van rear type. The LWB is the one with the plastic unboltable rear roof type. There is only about an 8inch diffrence between the two wheel bases.

The later modles did have the 4wd as a switch on the dash. The range selection is still done with a lever.

Thank you very much for your help. I just need to find one now, is it just me or are they quite rare (well the good ones are)?
