Thanks for the reply the trucks always pulled like a train up untill recently no symptoms other than lack of power?
service
id give it a good service before i worried further.
ive had diesels slow to almost an stop up hill because ive left the fuel filter for a long time and its been full of water some how, changed it the air filter and oils and filter and back to full power.
oil need to be change regular on a turbo diesel as well.

Check air filter OK. Failing
Check air filter OK. Failing this it might be worth checking intercooler pipes and connections are sound. From under the bonnet, on a warm engine, raise the revs to ~2500 you should feel the hoses harden as boost begins to build. Check intercooler for damage / leaks. If both these OK then turbo is generating boost. Also check the small bore boost compensator pipe which runs from inlet manifold to the diaphragm chamber on top of the injection pump. It has been known for the boost compensator diaphragms to split (though I have no personal experience of this on Bosch / Denso injection pumps), if this happens you generally get pressure in the fuel tank which is noticeable when the fuel cap is removed. Other possible problem is the '1st gear boost control' mechanism, this is designed to introduce deliberate leak in the boost compensator line while first gear is engaged, thus preventing excessive fueling while air charge through the intercooler is low. As a test, re-route the rubber pipework so that the bleed-off is eliminated - i.e. join manifold spigot direct to injection pump compensator.
Failing all this I think I would next look at a compression test.
