Forum:
hi i have recently had a problem with the lights on my sporty. when i switch on the lights to dip then beam the beam sometimes goes off leaving me on dips to dive with. then when i flick the switch to full beam it doesn't come on at all. or if i put on the beam the full beam will come on. is it the switch that i have a problem and where could i get another switch from. i really need some ones advice as it is so frustrating driving like this.
thanks in advance

Probably the switch, we had a similar problem on our 'trak. I believe the contacts carbonise and burn leading to a poor connection. I sorted ours by cleaning up the contacts. You can also get an aerosol switch cleaner, a dose of this sprayed on may do the job, along with working the switch at the same time.

Not sure is Sporti is the same (though it probably is), but this is a fairly common problem with the fourtrak. I have sorted two of my own out previously. DON'T go spending money untill you have cleaned the contacts up.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

thanks guys,
i cleaned the contacts. i took the cower of the switch and sprayed the contact spray in, and wriggled the switch as well. it made a difference, however i still have the problem of when i switch to full beam there isn't any, just the ordinary beam. so i sought of solved one problem but another still persisits. do you think the bulbs are faulty, as i think i would buy two new ones first and check if the full beam will work then. what are your thoughts.

Silly question, but have you
Silly question, but have you checked the fuses? When the fuse goes it can look like you have dipped and not main, as there is a "driving" light in the main headlamp, I thought my bulb had gone last week for the above reason. Turned out it was a fuse.
yer same issues with the traks
main problem is dust and dirt in the switch console area on the steering column, lots of wd40, then go from there.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
