hey anyone suffering the same problems as me and any help out there?i have an k reg 2.2 petrol (argh!) carb type fourtrak rocky that ran like a dream and goes like stink until recently when it started stalling on me,whilst its cold and auto choke on it has no probs at all but as soon as its warm and auto c goes off as soon as i let the accelerator off it stalls loosing brake and steering vacuum, this takes about two miles of running, but can be key or bump started instantly, its driving me insane!theres no loss of pulling power and still goes like stink whilst running but can stall at any speed and wont tick over at all ,please please help!!

Are you sure it's 2.2? The

Are you sure it's 2.2? The standard fourtrak / Rocky Petrol is a Toyota 3Y 2ltr lump. I had a similare problem with one of those. I had to take the top off the carb and clean out the float chamber, as it had bits of rubish in it. These were getting pulled into the inlet to the bypass jet. So whenever you let it idle (ie the butterfly was compleatly closed) it would stall. It would run like a bag of excrament bellow about 2000 rpm, but after that would run like normal. This would sort it for a while, then it would happen again. I had to do this about 5 times over a 3 month perioud (and change / clean out the fuel fillters) befor it setteled down and kept running right.

And why 'argh' about petrol? I found the F80 I had to be almost as powerfull as the Diesel for towing, better on fuel when being thrashed continually, and better offroad (if you didn't take it near water more than a couple of feet deep).

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

dodgy running petrol

Main things with petrol engines that make them run rough is the like of corrosion on ht leads, plugs, ignition coils/timing points, like nev said dirty fuel in carb area - use choke and carb cleaner for filters etc, sounds to me like its just dirt in the fuel mix (i.e carb)

Full of ideas but no time to do them!!
