home mode kicks in..

OK,we have changed the Cat,the lamda
sensor, the oil, the plugs, the air filter,
We have used a petrol additive to clear the engine in conjunction with a 20 mile fast run.
The mechanic(me) has removed all the air intake hoses on this
injection model and had a good
scrape around.
Someone sugguested 'have it code read mate'! which I plan to do next.
Or maybe,I should change the petrol
mangement thingome, because its definitly over fuelling.
The other thing is it seems to have
top end noise at mid range revs..
Apart from that it runs like a bird..
any tips out there?
From your description it
From your description it would appear to be running in cold mode as it would from a cold start in the morning. This is usually a seperate map in the ECU and not the normal running map, or it is in limp home mode if it will not rev properly.
The modes switch between the two purely on the engine coolant temperature so i would suspect the coolant sensor. They are prone on these vehicles as they age, and a defective item will put in a fixed resistance value instead of a variable one.
These are cheap to replace, so i would begin there; it is located in the cylinder head and simply screws out.
