Hiya all,
This is my first post on here!
Wondering if anyone can help!! I have an M reg Sportrak Timberline, that is wonderful to drive apart from this one problem (Oh and a recent water leak which is a different story!)When i turn it makes a noise that sounds like a metally sounding "clunk". It happens mostly on the right lock but occasionally on the left! Any help appreciated! Please!!
noise
Does this happen in 2 or 4wd, do you have auto or manual hubs?
Does the noise come from front or back?

It happens in 2wd that i know of, to be honest haven't driven in 4wd for ages so don't know!
Have auto hubs and only comes from the front, mainly when turning sharply to the right! i.e.turning into my parking space at work car park!
tyres
Have you considered that your tyre could be rubbing? Are they bigger than standard?
tyres
No i'm sure it's not the tyres - they're standard and it's definately a 'metallic clunk'! thanx anyway!

There are also umpteen grease points associated with the front steering and suspension - make sure you grease them all.

Clunk noise
Hi,
I have exactly the same thing in my sportrak, when turning right on full lock and go over a bump. Doesnt seem to happen on left lock. I've had a good look underneath and cant find anything that may cause it, and as others have the same thing im just assuming its ok and not worrying about it!!
Let us know if you discover the cause!!

Nat

Hi,
I had something like this on my sporty when I put it on full lock especially going over a bump at the same time after investigation it was so stupid you never beleive it underneath the car there is a steering wheel stop when on full lock it was all rusty so put grease on them all ok now, must be just because it was metal to metal its worth a look.
