Hi
I recently had to put four new tyres on our 98 4trak tdx, the previous ones were nearly slicks so we went for some nice BF Goodrick AT50/50, but we are now getting understeer when turning right or left, is this normal for these tyres on a 4trak or am I missing something else?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
With a new tyre you get a
With a new tyre you get a surface film which needs rubbing off through wear, also consider your other tyres were nearly slick, this means more contact area with the road.
Tyre characteristics alter from tyre to tyre so one with more off road bias is generally worse in its on road handling.
To make the point, in the days when i raced cars and had to use road legal tyres we would scrub them. This meant spinning them in a large lathe and removing a lot of the tread until it was 3mm deep.
