sportrak rear lights

Forum:

Hi Folks, Can anyone tell me if there is a kit available to convert my rear lights Unknw The lenses seem to be dummies and the actual lights are in the bumper. Can you fit a light cluster to the back of the dummy lenses?

I am looking at this myself.

There is no plug in loom on mine (93 elxi) but i have found the main loom and can take it from there. Going to try and find some bulb holders that i can fit by drilling out the blanking plates on the dummy lights.

sportrak rear lights

I have a 92 Sportrak which is fully converted to off road. When it comes to moving the rear lights from the bumper to the body clusters you will find a problem as i did. There is no loom for it, you have to extend the wires up from the bumper, i cut the plug off and extended the wires up to the body clusters, The problem is that the clusters are red and so the indicator will not flash orange. The way around this i found was to buy some series 2 Landrover indicators (the ones that are in the bullet shape)and screw those to the clusters. You can have the stop/tail lights in the clusters as they show red anyway but you will have so modify it to fit with additional screw-in bulb holders from donor vechicle. It does work fine and looks the business. When it comes to the fog light, you can either use the other side where the reverse light woulg be as thats red too, or just buy a universal one and screw it to the rear. I hope this info helps any1 who is modifying their Sporty. I will upload some pics of mine soon.

I have an 89 model and the rear lights are where your dummy lenses are,in the bumpers I just have fog lights.
So it must be possible to convert the later spec Sporty's to the same system.
Don't ask me how though, electrics aren't my strongpoint!
