F78 tensioner + idler bearing part number?

Forum:

just wondering if anyone knows the part numbers for the tensioner and idler bearings on the F78? I'm going to do the timing belt fairly soon and although i think (hope) the surfaces of the idler and tensioner will be ok i'd like to replace the bearings if possible.

does anyone know the spec or part numbers for the bearings?

cheers.

Hi Lube, are you thinking

Hi Lube,
are you thinking bearing number so you can source from local bearing supplier or Daihatsu part number?
I dont know whats stamped on them or type they are but the idler should be available off the shelf from most trade bearing suppliers, doubt the tensioner is due to its design.
The Daihatsu numbers are IDLER (05/1993-06/2001) 13504-87301-000
and the TENSIONER 13505-87303-000.

many thanks. yes if possible

many thanks. yes if possible i was thinking if anyone had managed to source other bearings to fit, but thanks for the part numbers.

Hi guys I know this is an old thread but it looks like I'm finally going to get around to doing the timing belt and I just wondered if anyone had come across the idler and tensioner ball bearing part numbers (not the daihatsu part numbers but the markings on the bearings themselves) or dimensions? Like I said if possible I want to get these before I start the job otherwise I'll be faced with a long bike ride to the bearing supplier whilst the car is laid up by the side of the road!
Did anyone do this job recently and keep hold of the old bits?
Any input appreciated.
Cheers,
Lube

when i done mine i got a

when i done mine i got a cambelt kit from unipart,it was a blueprint one that come with the belt, idler and tensioner all in one box.

Thanks. The kit from unipart

Thanks. The kit from unipart is £178 which seems a lot. From what I've heard it's unlikely the idler and tensioners themselves will need replacing, just the bearings inside, and I already have the belt.
I'm hoping the two bearings will be cheaper than this!
Cheers.

yea it is alot. why not order

yea it is alot.
why not order one and get the numbers from it then take it back Wink

Milner

Thought Milners was cheaper than that for the full cam belt kit?

Bearings

If you just want the bearing then the number is stamped on the outer race side, access any bearing supplier and check their specification charts.

If the bearing number is eradicated, simply measure (accurately) the inner and outer diameter, and the bearing thickness. They should have cross references, usually based on the outside diameter, so can usually supply a number of differing bearings in your size.

thanks. i'm hoping that

thanks. i'm hoping that someone might have done that already for the f78 as if possible i'd like to order the parts in advance and do the job in one go.
cheers.

Called Milners, they don't

Called Milners, they don't sell the kit only the belt, nor did they know the specs of the bearings.
Anyone? It would be incredibly useful to know the specs for the f78 so I can do the whole job in an afternoon, rather than having the car out of action for days whilst my local supplier orders in the bearings.
Cheers.
