brakes very unresponsive

Forum:

hi the brakes on the sporty have been very unresponsive for as long as i can remember is this normal for a sportrak or a common problem Unknw the brake fluid level is fine. it pulls to the left quite alot and when turning sharp left and breaking heavily there is a creaking/shuddering noise. the front drivers side bearing has just been changed- fixed excess wheel movement.

brakes should be sharp and

brakes should be sharp and deffo no pulling to the right/left, this is caused by one working a lot more efficient than the other, you need to inspect and find the cause, use a friendly mot stations brake rollers, they will be able to id all of the wheels/efforts or take to someone who knows, cant mess with brakes that lurch of to the right/left!!

brake pads?

ok then but the cheapest to look at the wheel alingment on it over here quoted near on £120!i know you cant put a price on safety though. isnt it likely to be uneven wear on brake pads due to the 6/7 months the wheel bearing was gone?

Begin by removing the pads

Begin by removing the pads and checking the movement of the calipers, are they all free and sliding properly.

Are the pistons siezed, or are they sliding freely, and are the pads free to slide properly.

Have you bled the brakes fully and properly, if not it will pull to one side.

Have you noticed it pulling to the left on cambered roads? if so use a flat car park to test. Cambered roads can cause pulling to the left as the centre of the road is higher than the gutter.

will try this today

thanks i will try this today and check each wheel.
what are the step by step instructions on how to bleed the brakes as i have not had them bled - dont want to get it wrong

this is how the brake pads

this is how the brake pads are on each side, the left doesnt move as freely. ( the wet in the picture is just water! ) Photobucket
