Hi finally got my hands on a good second hand hub, fitted it on after giving it a good cleaning and oiling up. It solved my problem which was a clicking noise like a ratchet spinning backwards every time i reversed the jeep. to cure this i had to put the jeep in 4wd and drive forwards for a bit and then take it out of 4wd. Now i was delighted with this but when it started the exact same caper just 24 hours later you can imagine how pissed off i was. now what I want to know is can anybody tell me if there are left and rights in these hubs cause im having the trouble on the drivers side and the hub I got came off the passenger side. Hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
auto hubs are unreliable crap
auto hubs are unreliable crap at times, manual ones are the best, it sounds to me like the hubs are engaging the halfshafts and its the cv joints that are clicking, is it worse when cornering? under search youll find all the answers and I wrote a section on how the 4wd works and what connects to what, it might be that stripping n cleaning your auto hubs has actually made them worse as there not really designed to be maintained in the same way as the manuals.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Auto hubs are very reliable
Auto hubs are very reliable if they are correctly maintained. Unfortunately many do not maintain them, look in the "how it works" section as it shows how to maintain them.
well thats not answered him
