Forum:
Hi all, my fourtrak has generated a vibration/ judder when either in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, starts around 25mph.
I have manual hubs, which I have been leaving locked on recently with all the snow. I've also been doing a bit of off roading yesterday, however, once finished, I turned front hubs to free, and started to drive on the road, the fast I drive, the harder the vibrations
Has anyone experienced similar things?
I've just done a bit of reading about transmission wind up, if this sounds like my problem, what's the procedure for fixing?
Thanks
Have you also been in 4H all
Have you also been in 4H all this time, or switching back to 2H when on clear tarmac?
hi
my trak did this a while back, i thought the same!, it turned out to be my prop shaft! checked bolts ad they were loose enough to vibrate the nads off my trak....
hope this helps.

Check the propshaft U/J's as these are the weak link on Fourtrak's and cheap and easy to replace.
Mine did this, but only when
Mine did this, but only when it was very cold, ie below freezing.
I found that the front propshaft spline was full of water which had frozen, thus making the shaft a fixed length and unable to accommodate the engine moving about on its mountings.
The diff and transfer box bearings used to grunt really badly when under axial load.
OK, the splines are pretty knackered, but no worse than those on my old landrover.
