fitting avm manual hubs to sportrak

Forum:

hi everybody,

my auto hubs have failed and i need to replace them for manual hubs,

i'm looking at getting the avm hubs, can anyone tell me whats involved?

is there anything i need to change or swap etc,

also i have the daihatsu workshop manual, and the auto hubs look extremely complicated in the manual, though im sure thats not the case.

i have searched the website but have found nothing concrete regarding the sportrak, only the fourtrak.

any help is greatly appreciated

Hi, Have you tried taking

Hi,
Have you tried taking them off and greasing them? There's a lot of info on the site about this. The really complicated bits all come off in one lump. and the manual is very helpful.
Mine have failed to the extent that there is a handful of bits of plastic and metal and part of the mechanism is bent. The answer seems to be fitting manual hubs.
I've heard rumours that they can be welded solid, can anyone explain which parts to weld?

They are talking about

They are talking about welding the differential, not the hubs, not something you would do with any vehicle used on any solid surface, and certainly not on the road.

yeah i have since taken them

yeah i have since taken them apart, regreased them, cleaned them up, and then put them back together,

got them to lock twice, then they stopped locking again, bit of a pain in the arse.

have now bought manual hubs 2nd hand, and 1 id in really good contition and seems to work, the other is a bit stiff/siezed, so i need to take that apart and hope i can get it working, otherwise i gonna have to buy another manual hub, bored!!!

i couldnt find any info on fitting the avm manual hubs in place of the auto hubs so ended up buying used ones, which is a shame as i would have rather bought new.
