4Trak Power Steering Box

Forum:

Greetings drivers,

I have a problem with my power steering box, it seems.
On a 1998 SWB 4Trak that is LHD.
I noticed that when driving, the steering wheel doesn't return to center 1/4. It has to be steered straight after every turn, right or left alike.
I replaced tie rod, bot sides, lower ball joints, both sides (parts from Milners, don't seem very strong but...). Cannot find replacement top ball joints. Had alignment, all specs are correct (had caster checked twice). Have brand new tires. PS oil not leaking or running out. Basically, hace covered all the possible causes and nothing fixed it. All I have left is to change the box. Now my model is a LHD. Milners doesn't have the PS gearbox for LHD, nor can I find it anywhere else. But I can find a LHD for the Sportrak/Feroza/Rocky model in the US or elsewhere. DOes someone know if they fit? Or maybe from another make/model?
I'm always asking the same question, another make/model?
It's so hard to find parts for the 4Trak around here.
Any thoughts are welcome.

Thank you.

La Bete.

Part # 44110-87605-000

Greetings Drivers,

I'm hoping someone can help me out here.
I've found a Daihatsu OEM power steering box, part number 44110-87605-000
It's advertised as a 89 to 92 Sportrak part
Does anyone have a CAT and could check if this part also fit the 98-02 Fourtrak?
Visually they look identical (by what I can tell from a picture of the part)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please.

Thank you.

(44110-87605-000 is the correct part number)

The best option is for a power steering specialist to overhaul it for you, they use many common/standard sized components internally, and all it is in reality is a piston, seal, and a pressure relief valve.
