Forum:
i have feroza 1.6 EFI and 1 week ago i have changed the valve seals, radiator ,belt and the tensioner and did a mistake and had to early ignition which resulted with blown gasket. i changed the head gasket and corrected the timing. now everything is ok but i have a white smoke on low rev's 1000-4000 and black smoke on rev above 4000-5000 rev only when engine hot.
!!!(White smoke) no coolant missing!!!
!!!(Black smoke) there is noting wrong whit the gas/air mix because i'm using LPG.!!!
i'm losing oil and the spark plugs are black.
i did compression check few weeks ago and had 14bar and now i have the same power that i had before so i think the piston rings are ok.
another thing i noticed is that there is no or almost no smoke when engine is cold, and start smoking when hot and going downhill whit low rev or when driving in town.
when i have smoke and go to motorway smoking stops.
so i think that the oil is very thin when hot.
and another thing is that i install radiator from golf 2 TD that is horizontal rather that original vertical and i installed the hose for oil cooler on the lower-right (oil filter) side which is middle of the water path try the radiator and input/output are on the left side of the radiator.
is it possible that there is small amount off water going try oil cooler or the water going try is to hot.
The temperature of the engine is below middle all the time.
yesterday i changed the intake valve seals but no difference at all.
This is a long shot but are
This is a long shot but are you sure you've got all the hoses correct? The hose going to the radiator cap (not the one from the header tank) can look like it's meant to go onto the airbox, and if misplaced can introduce some water into the intake. I know this would result in water loss and you say there's none missing but this did happen to me (not my fault though!) and I got lots of white smoke once the car had warmed up a bit. However it was also down on power, does your engine run fine?
Hope you get it fixed
problem found
i have good and bad news.
the good news is that the problem is not the hose and the bad news is that the piston rings are stuck wile waiting for the head gasket for 2 weeks. the cillindars were full off water after i blow the gasket due to mistaken timing belt resulting whit to early ignition and the spark plugs were removed.
so it had all conditions for the rings to get stuck.
i found that the compression had changed 1 month ago i had 13,8 bar on all cill. now i had 12-12,5-13-13,1 bar so we decided to open up the engine.
now i'm waiting for the rings and new valve seals, hoping they will arrive before 2 weeks.
Sorry to hear that the
Sorry to hear that the problem is that severe, but it's great that you're on top of it.
problem solved. i have
problem solved.
i have changed the old piston rings and valve seals whit new original japan made and yesterday i was going crazy on the mounting hills whit no smoke at all and so much more power.
the head was rebuild where the valve seat all the work cost me 320 euro (parts 120 and 200 for the mechanic) - not expencive i think.
