Just bought sporty for £500 with no mot but in good mechanical cond, BUT it's running bad! Starts ok, Drives ok at low revs but dont pull very well at all 
struggles up hills but seems better on low throttle than lots. No smoke from exhaust or missfireing so bit stuck. Car is 1994 16v inj. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, Tried that too, some silly sod has put some poxy pipercross thing on it so i gave it a clean with k&n cleaner but only little inprovement, will try fuel filtr tommorrow.

Mine's a 1990 carb model, but I had a similar problem.
A new fuel filter (bolted to the chassis on the driver's side) did the trick.
