Getting started, again!? I would welcome some advice regarding my 1988 Fourtrak 2.8 TDI which has not been driven for the last 5 months. I 've charged the battery and it starts fine ,should I change the oil and oil filter before driving it round the block. Car has 74,000 miles on clock and I last had an oil change at around 55,000-60,000 miles. Any advice would be appreciated as I want to get it back on the road ASAP. Cheers

Naughty boy !

4trak engine oil should be changed every 3000 to 4000 miles, and oil filters every 6000 miles.

oil change terios

Hello there,
Just joined as I am about to change the oil on my wifes Terios. First problem....I can't find the sump drain plug. Is it hiding under all that underbody protection? Do I have to unbolt any/all of the protection before draining the oil?
Any help would be appreciated.
I just order the cd/rom manual as the owners manual is pretty rubbish.
Many thanks
Lurcher

Engine damage - be warned!

Extending an oil change beyond 20% can seriously damage your diesel engine. Petrol engines also use oil but diesel engines need oil which is oil plus 'detergent'. That why it gets very black very quickly and the oil wears out. Conseqently suitable oils must be used in petrol/diesel engines.
I suggest you change your engine's oil and filter before driving. The gearbox is of less concern but change at service intervals.
