sorry, but with my poor english, i didn't get most of the text. but i'll answer anyway;) when i changed cv joint to my rocky i had to cut the old joint into peaces, so that i could first take the outer part of (out side of the ball bearings), drop the bearings out and the carefully cut the inner part. DONT DESTROY the surface of the axl. it will be easily scarred. normally joint should drop when you hit it with a hammer, but the "locking pin" is so sharp edged that it wont slip at all.

Ok, I assume you want to disassemble the actual CV joint.

If so, this takes 2 people. Get someone to hold the axle verticle, with the outer (Hub) end pointing down, and the diff end up. (I suppose you could do this with a vice, gripping well a non critical part of the shaft) Lift it off the ground a bit, place something soft under it on the ground to catch the falling CV. Get a piece of timber and lay this across the flat part of the bell of the CV. Now give the timber a really good whack with a large hammer. The bell and outer end of the CV should pop off. What holds it on is another small circlip on the end of the axle shaft, inside the CV. It is a small ring of spring steel, that will close into its own gap on the shaft, as the race of the CV slides over it. It will stay on the axle shaft as this comes out of the CV.

To disassemble the actual CV, look at the bearing race and you will find one of the ball cups has a small cut out on it. This is the key to disassembly. You jiggle the balls and the race around, and the ball in this cup with the cut out will come out, then this allows the race to move enough to get the rest of the balls out.

Reassembly is the reverse order, but this time, to insert the shaft just squeeze the small ring circlip into its groove, and it will slide into the race.

Cheers
David

with mine i did that and no such luck that it would have just popped apart Wink had to cut it.. but mine is from year 89 and original parts..

Slide it in a vice

Put it in the vice and slide the shaft through, this should knock the joint off.
Carefull with your fingers though
