4WD problems

Forum:

Hey all, just a quick one, my 90 foutrak van goes into 4WD but the front wheels do not drive, the front shaft engages at the transfer box but it have a split approx 12 inch fron the transfer box the prop shaft seams to run freely after that and you can spin it.

Does the fourtrak have any issues with these prop shafts?

The funnest thing is i was off roading this week end and without the 4WD i still pulled out a landy that was stuck!!

Give this guy a ring, Atkinson Automotives, 01538 702233, or 07817 025057. He specialises in Fourtraks, and there's not many problems he can't fix or diagnose. He also breaks em for spares, so anything you need he should be able to get.

Landy drivers hate Daihatsu's, as they always make them look bad!!

From you description, it sounds like you may have striped the splines off the sliding joint in the prop. Not likely, but posible.
Have a look by dropping one end of the prop, and sliding the joint appart.
