Leaking Fuel Pump??

Forum:

Hi

I bought my F75 about a month ago and the second day i had it i noticed a rather large stain on the drive Sad i have investigated and its diesel thats leaking out of the pump. I turned the engine on only to be shocked too see how much was escaping with the engine running :o There is loads its not quite pouring out but not far off!

Has anyone had this problem before? I'd like to know if you have and how much it costs to fix??

Thanks

And as an addendum to my responses in the post in that link, Has the diesel recently been changed in the UK. About 5 or 6 years ago, the diesel in Oz was changed, to comply with stricter emissions requirements. The sulphur content was reduced from 5000 ppm to 500 ppm. There were a couple of methods used by the fuel companies to comply with the new requirements, predominantly using additives. BP used an additive that was harmful to the older fuel pump seals. Replacement was required to new seals that are resistant to the new additives. This could be your problem. Check with a diesel mechanic to see if seal kits are made from new materials. Namely neopurene.

Bundy (I personally like the Bundy O P Rum, in a half pint glass filled to the brim with ice and a splash of Coke, it costs me a small fortune to get hold of in the UK)

Anyway, no diesel has not changed here for sometime so that should not be a promblem......

On another note.....I now understand what you were getting at with the axle oil seal thing now she's out on the garage floor.;)

Leaking Fuel Pump??

Had a leak from mine, turned out to be split in pipe to injector. Dead easy to change, new pipe cost £30+.
