rear differential

Forum:

yep still trying to find time to get my 94 fourtrak totally serviced but hit a prob someone might be able to help with, when i came to changing the rear diffs oil i tried to loosen the filler nut first but it wont budge, after cleaning of a lot of rust and then some more rust i tried again but the plate looks like its going to buckle if i keep going, have tried heat as well.only choice i have is to find a rear end diff plate with filler nut and really give the old one a good old pull and if it buckles i will have to change it.anyone have any better ideas before i go hounding people for a rear diff.
cheers Bill

Give it one good hard smack square on with a hammer. This may loosen any built up corrosion on the threads. If no good, use a hammer and cold chisel to undo it, and buy a new filler nut.
