Leaking injector pump on 4trak

Forum:

Anyone had this problem before Unknw
I have fuel leaking from somewhere near the top of the fuel
injector pump on my 4trak.I cannot easily see where the fuel is escaping from.
Its getting worse though Sad
Fuel feed and return hoses seem fine...suspect that its getting out where
the accelerator spring mounts to the top of the pump...
Just thought I would ask in the hope that someone has solved this one in the past.
Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Mike, Yes, there are three po

Mike, Yes, there are three possible places for this to occur. You are correct in one, the shaft that the accelorator cable connects to has an O ring on the inside of the pump body. This can leak. There is also an O ring on the adjustment screw (the one with the lock nut and locking wire) on the rear of the pump. The gasket on the top of the pump body can also leak. All are easy fixes. The top of the pump body is attached by 4 hex head bolts. Remove the cable, then take out the four bolts. The top of the pump will come off, however, there is a spring connected to the underside of the accelerator shaft. You can take this spring off and you can remove the shaft and replace the O ring. The adjustment screw is much the same, just crack the locking nut, and unscrew the screw. Replace the O ring, and retighten the screw, using the lock nut as a guide for correct position. My leak turned out to the the adjustment screw.Growing old is compulsary, growing up isnt, and

Bundy..to get to the spring attached to the shaft of accelerator spring to disconnect... do I have to take the top of the pump by undoing the 4 hex bolts..is this straight forward m8 Unknw

Mike, its been a little while

Mike, its been a little while since I did mine, but, it is a fairly straight forward job. When you get the 4 hex heads undone, you can lift the top enough to access the spring. My greatest fear, seeing as how I was playing with the pump, was I was going to remove the bolts, and have the top go SPROING, with no hope of reassembly. Luckily, I have a pair of spare motors, and the junker was used as a test bed before hand.
Hope this helps
Cheers
David

But I trust ya m8...how about reconnecting the spring after replacing the O ring..is this difficult...what tool did you use ?..if you can remember m8...is the spring the only part of the inards attached to the lid of the pump Unknw

It isnt a problem Mike. You h

It isnt a problem Mike. You have enough room to remove and replace the spring with your fingers, unless, of course, you are a gorilla in disguise. The spring isnt under tension.

I got very dainty phalanges m8 lol..so I just have to figure out how you get to the hex bolt under the flippin diaphragm casing to undo it ...
One more question m8..what is a bundyrumandcoke?.....lol

Remove the injector lines fro

Remove the injector lines from both the injectors and the fuel pump. Remove the bracket that holds them together and remove it all in one piece. This should allow you room to get at that bolt from the rear of the diaphram assembly. Whats a BundyRumandCoke? Check out
