starter removal

i am having trouble removing the starter from my 85 fourtrak td. any help?

Let me guess, you cant get to the top mounting bolt?
Get a ring spanner, reverse it, so the raised part is toward the front, and then use either a lever, or hammer, to crack the thread. It should undo reasonably then. It also helps if you support the front of the starter so the weight doesnt pull down the starter as the bolt is undone. The bottom bolt is easiest undone lying on your back under the vehicle.

Use a ratchet wrench the appropriate socket and the longest extension you can find (add a number together!) and you should be able to undo the bolts from well behind the bellhousing.

thanks all for the advise.undid the bolts from underneath with a ratchet and two extension bars.not the best design.
