Hi, my 1990 daihatsu charade G100 turbo is leaking alot of water i cant tell where it coming in but theres always a large puddle in the passenger side footwell after rain. please help!
thanks

Leak

You certain its only after rain? It could be a leak from the heater matrix .... have a feel around the carpet next to the heater unit.

Leak

i thought that aswel but then i checked the heater unit and it seems to be dry but the puddle of water is directly under the heater unit.
do you think it could be the drainage holes are blocked or something?

Sounds like the matrix.

There are no drain holes. If there were holes they would continually leak!
Other problem could be a leak around the windscreen or through a window-wiper plug. Water gets through and flows behind the dash finishing on the floor. Try a sealant around each possible entry point. [I paddled in my disco during a French thunderstorm - rainwater entered at the top of the windscreen, ran down inside the door pillar, along the dash and onto the carpet]
Try the above but most likely the heater matrix is leaking. If the car is about 10years old [depends how its been treated/coolant additive] the matrix is probably rotton/cracked.

Leak

I have just completely stripped all the interior out of the car so i can get the carpet out and see where the leak is coming. i checked the heater matrix and it seems to be dry but there was a puddle in the car after rain.

Leak

If it was the heater the liquid would smell/taste of coolant?
Most likely coming in from the screen scuttle/screen trim vent. Lift the bonnet and look at the plastic clips at each end that hold down the scuttle. The lower end ones have a rubber top hat type insert that seals the hole. The rubbers go hard, shrink or are missing due to previous removal. The holes on the lower 2 drop right into the footwells. You can tell if these have been leaking by looking at the metal brackets that hold up the dash at each end. They will be very rusty, water wells on these! If it is the clip holes just remove the rubber strip from under the 2 part scuttle and lay a bead of clear silicone sink type sealant where the strip lay, replace the strip and scuttle then add a little to each hole, then put back the top hats and clips. Job done!! Seen this problem on at least 4 other Charades as well as my own, so fairly sure this is the cause. 14+ years of Charade GTti addiction is just been kicked by my YRV Turbo 130.

More likely

More likely to be a rusty bit in behind the panel you remove for the wiper motor

I've had about 7 charades from G11 to G100 variants and they all rust here

Leak

my 1st thought was that it was the seals on the doors but then it seems to be a tight seal, i was told there was drainage holes in the body work like the ones from the sunroof. i will check the heater matrix though. also iooked in the back under the carpet it seems damp there so may be it running from somewhere in the back?
thanks
