shock abosrbers

Forum:

How do you get the electronic shock absorbers off, i cant find a bolt. Does replacing them with gas ones mean changing the springs, and do i have to take the spring off the take off the electronic ones? Also can the front manual wheel lock be taken off/ replaced as i want to put alloys on the car. Its a diahasu sportrak by the way.

Can't help with the first two

Can't help with the first two points.
Why do you need to change the FWH's? What aloys are you tying to fit? Any Daihatsu aloy should fit over them. Are the ones you've got suzuki? I know they are the same stud patern, but they may be a diffrent center hole size. However that seems unlikely as Suzuki standard steels go straight onto a Daihats.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

The top electonic motor/ adju

The top electonic motor/ adjuster needs to be removed off the top of the shocks. The front ones can be removed via the engine bay; the rears via two small access holes in the rear under the seats. There are three or four small bolts that hold each motor one, once the small bolts are undone you can pull the motor straight off. You should then be able to see the shock shaft and large nut that holds them in; undo the nut and you can pull the shock out.

BTW you don't need to change

BTW you don't need to change springs to fit normal non adjustable shocks.

Alloy wheels should come with a centre cap to allow access to the free wheeling hub- similar to the standard steel rim centre cap.

cheers

cheers boys! Ill have a go at it tomorrow! i drive a 91 silver sporty with EFi, is there anything I can do to get a bit more power and torque out of the 1.6 petrol engine, as its quite sluggish on the motorway.

Get your valve clearances adj

Get your valve clearances adjusted, get the timing set up advanced with it running on the highest octane fuel you can get, a K&N pod will improve it a bit - so will extractors and a 2" exhaust. Converting to an electric thermo fan also free up some power.
