ROVER V8 INTO 4 TRAK

Forum:

Hi guys,i was wondering if anyone had any experience of fitting a Rover V8 sd1 engine coupled to a Range rover box, into a swb 4 trak..any help greatly appreciated

It has been done. V8, 3 spee

It has been done. V8, 3 speed Rangi auto, F70 axles on a space fram buggy. The only marrying up problem is making Rangi to Daihatsu prop shafts. These can be made easily enugh from the existing Rangi & Daihatsu props, but the ballancing needs to be done by a profesional company. I'm not so sure a manual would fit in a standard 4trak body though, due to the very long Rangi bell housing.

You could marry the V8 to the Daihatsu box though. And this has been done. You need to cut the F75 bell housing, and the Rangi bell housing down (both ali), and weld the halves (after they have been macheined to size) back together. The Daihatsu clutch plate also fits into the V8 paddles. This also hase the advantage that you don't need to fit the Rangi liquid link clutch to your 4trak. And putting the V8 to just the back axle means more get up and go, as your just pushing the rear transmition around.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
