strange noise coming from middle or rear of my fourtrak

hi ive recently bought a 1990 fourtrak ive noticed a strange rumbling noise only when excelorating it sounds like its coming from the rear propshaft or rear diff and i dont know which to replace i dont know how to find the cause of the noise or which item to replace please Help

Take the rear propshaft out,

Take the rear propshaft out, and go for a drive in 4wd. This should rule out a uni. Its then either diff or rear wheel bearing.

can you change diffs internal organs without taking diff out its not the prop uj's so must be warn diff ive got a donour car with quiet diff was just wondering if you can swap stuff without swapping whole diff. also got noisy cv's on front so got to replace them to just waiting for cdrom workshop manual.
