London Emission Zone - non-compliant?

Forum:

LEZ are changing their rules in January 2012.

The online vehicle-checking database is being updated so doesn't necessarily give the correct info (if I search by type, my Fourtrak fails, if I search by registration number, it passes .... I think it fails because it's a 4x4 which weighs over 1.2...)

So buy a filter or avoid London at all costs (£100 a day!!) in the future?

Riot zone....

Why would anyone want to visit a riot zone?

More to the point, why do

More to the point, why do you need a 4x4 in London?

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.

London's a Shithole anyway

Very well put! I used to go up to London in the 1960s to visit a friend, driving my Land-Rover Series 1 (which I still own). Not a lot of four-wheel drive vehicles in the capital then. It was very satisfying to see the taxi drivers give way when spotting the big galvanized front bumper!

Ignore the website as it has

Ignore the website as it has more flaws than the England football team.

Your vehicle is not affected in anyway, shape, or form due to its age.

Age doesn't come into it.

Age doesn't come into it. The rules are changing. This is not the LEZ rules of a couple of years ago but new rules coming into force in jan 2012.

Looking at this website, it seems we will be affected from jan 2012 as we weigh over 1.25 tonnes. (What's a fourtrak - 1.7?)

The get-out is if it says bodytype is "car" on our logbooks....I'll check when I get home.

if you want a real laugh, scroll down to the bottom and read the case studies - Toyota Hilux Surf, Transit horsebox and an old LandRover, none of them are LEZ-compliant and the cost of fitting approved filters to them was between £1500-2500 each!!!

The daily fine is £100.

I only go to London once a year anyway, to see the dentist. Cheaper to hire a car for the day than fork out for a filter.

cheaper to get a local

cheaper to get a local dentist!

of course it'll be interesting to see if the LEZ rules eventually get applied to other UK towns / cites or even the whole of the UK.

i thought it only applied to

i thought it only applied to diesel commercials?

ive seen some discussions on landrover forums.... discos with rear windows are exempt... defender diesels get hammered unless its a station wagon AND it was registered as an estate car... aparently a lot wernt so get clobbered.... so a defender diesel doing 30mpg gets hit while a v8 petrol on 12mpg dont

so fourtrak should be ok unless its a fieldman

and its pretty much anywhere inside the m25
