Sportrak 6x9" Speaker Fitting

Forum:

Hi,

Does anyone know how to fit 6x9" speakers in to a sportrak. I have seen somewhere it can be done. If anyone has pictures they can show me for placement and any tips I would be most grateful.

Thanks
Calvin

They fit apparently

According to a few people they apparently fit fine. My Sportrak has 6" rear ones fitted which are not far about the rear wheel arches. This looks like its the deepest part in the back so it is probably just a case of using the template on the box for the speakers to make the hole and to put them in. Though no doubt someone who has fitted 6x9's in their Sportrak (Nat has I think) will probably give you more details.

6x9 speakers

I have fitted rear speakers, but they're not 6x9 - i think they're either 5 or 6 inch diameter.

Its pretty easy to fit them (if i did it anyone can!), and I should think 6x9's would fit. My original speakers were actually mounted on the bodywork, held by one bolt at the top, behind the trim panel. There was then a simple grille fixed into the whole in the trim.

The best way to see whats what and how much room there is it to remove the trim panel - it comes off quite easily, although be careful because some fixings on mine broke off the trim and stayed in the bodywork! Best way I found was to locate the poppers holding it on and gently prise them off from behind with a screwdriver.

New speakers fix ina differnt way, they are designed to fit into a hole in the trim, so i had to 'adapt' (read: bodge!) how they fitted, so their weight was supported on the body work behind the trim, whilst still being fixed into the trim!

Don't know if any of that makes sense - bit awkward to explain! If you want to know more I'll try to explain a bit better!

6x9 speakers

Hi,

Cheers for the advice, I shall see what I can do - It wasnt really the fitment - It was more the depth of the speaker I was worried about! Maybe I should have been more specific. But thats enough to take away for now, and I shall see what I can do!

Thanks

speaker depth

Oh right, sorry! From what I can remember there was plenty of depth behind the rear side panels. I shouldnt think 6x9's are too deep, so should fit.
