Sounds dangerosly like it's
Sounds dangerosly like it's running on it's own oil. Does it do this straight from cold, or once it's been running for a while? If the later it could well be knakered rings alowing oil into the piston chambers and the engine running on it. This can lead to catastrofic engine damage, due to over-reving.
The other option is a problem in the injection pump. Does your car have a rev counter (not all do), does it go past the red line when it runs away? if not it will probably be the pump rather than the oil, as the limiter is still doing it's job.
Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
