Diff Locks

Forum:

Hi
Not written in the forum for a while so hear goes,
I have a Sportrak that i use mainly for greenlaneing but in really slippery conditions a limited slip diff or diff locks would be usefull.
Does anyone know of a modification or should i buy a Fourtrak, assuming they have limited slip diffs.
Regards amigaman

As far as I'm aware there is no diff lock, or limited slip kit / replacment for either car. Sorry. There used to be an after market airlocker kit for the 4trak, but I belive this is no longer the case. You could try rigging fiddle brakes. These can be used to slow the spin of the wheel with no traction, forcing power to the wheel with grip. Basicly manuel traction control.

Not sure. I had mine on the road with them for some time, including MOT's. You would need to talk to your local MOT station I supose. As long as there is a seprat hand break I can't see a problem.
