wheel spacers on a sporty?

Forum:

i wouldnt mind putting wheel spacers to widen my stance on the sporty, as i dont have the funds to buy larger wheels and tyres (unless someone wants to part ex some near scotland - ive got about £50)

so i was looking at wheel spacers. can these damage my hubs?

i was hoping for 20mm but i dont think i will be able to fit them on with the length of bolts i have to play with.

has anyone had an experience with these?

Wheel Spacers

I'm quite tempted to fit a set of spacers as well.

I've seen a set of 32mm spacers on Ebay for £60, or LA Supertrux sell a set for £99.

Both of them bolt on to the original studs, with new studs on the spacer.

A mate of mine had a set fitted to his Hilux, and he was well pleased. Ran with them for over 2 years with no problems.

those £60 ones are what i

those £60 ones are what i was looking at too. you could get the normal ones but the bolts on the hubs dont seem long enough, all youll get is about 10mm max perwheel which i think is pointless.

i was just worried as i have heard rumours they can strip the threads off your existing bolts and therefore knacker your hubs.

but if they run on a hilux they must be ok here - a hilux is consierably heavier than a sportrak!

PM me if you need Sportrak Help..

I would stear clear just on

I would stear clear just on the grounds of the extra strain your putting on your wheel barings, by putting the load of centre. Your better off fitting wider wheels, as you will get a wider track, but still have rubber directly bellow the barings. Spacers also put more load on the stearing, but then so do wider wheels.

Any veiws expresed in this thread by me are purely from my own experience, and (sometimes) falible memory. Hope my comments help, but please don't take them as gospel.
