Forum:
Uhh, here's the summary, went offroad yesterday and found out whilst in a deep flooded track that my fourtrak leaks, some nice offroader kindly told me that the water was coming in through the sills, just down on the floor near the door, my question is why are there these "sills" that allow water in? are the supposed to? sorry kind of new to the whole 4x4 stuff.
another question is can water damage the engine? is that why some trucks have snorkels? thanks for your time.
Fortrak Sills
hi
urm "sills" or "seals" 1st ones are the metal strip that runs along the base of the vch. the bits that you stand on to get in and out and these dont let in water unless they have rusted away. i think he means "seals" as in door seals the rubber bits round the door which can and do rot, tear, and collapsewith age. water damage = bad thats why snorkels are fitted to the air intake and breather pipes fitted to the axels so that the water cant get in
Still very confused
Umm yes its niether of these, its inside my fourtrak by the bottom of the floor near to the pedals and is a small insision that inderectly allows water through , hence i now know that its nothing to do with the door, any other suggestions? anybody?
thankyou for your time.
seals
arhh right
Does he mean the seam sealer that’s used to make the body panels water tight I’d plug it with grey stripe or another flexi sealant there water proof and stay flexible when dried its like grippa fill covers many a small hole
Maybe
you could be right, what did you say i should plug it with?
