Forum:
i have a 1991 sportrak and when u pull away or drive up hill and the engine is under load there is a odd sounds like a clicking sounds from the engine. its not a machanical sound more like a to much fuel or something electrical. its sort of like gargling sounds.
anyone got any ideas to what it might be
could it be a reason for my bad mpg only getting 25ish at the moment
engine mounts
hello, check your engine and gearbox mounts as they have a tendancy to shear off.
and i take it that its a carb model not injection. if so then your carbs may need a clean out.
hope that helps owen.
Does anyone know interesting to go offroading in suffolk? the flat lands seem very crapy so far!
no its not a carb one its
no its not a carb one its injection all the mounts are ok. i just had a look it sounds like it comes from the black round box on the wing infront of the driver.
odd sounds when engine is under load
The round box on the off side wing is a carbon filter and when I innitially read your gurgling noise comment I did think it may be in that area. In board, along the bulkhead top is also a fuel filter. Check that the carbon filter is connected properly and that there are no splits in the lines to and from . Also check the unioins on top of the filter and the filter itself. The fuel filter can be renewed and may be causing you problem. I have never had problems with my carbon filter on my 1991 but that is proof of nothing I accept.

Odd Sounds...
Sounds like your engine is pinking (pre-ignition). This could be disastrous for it and may burn your valves and piston heads.
