New Fourtrak Owner - questions

Forum:

Hello, new member here. Great site by the way.
Have just bought my first Fourtrak, a 2002 Fieldman (the commercial one based on the independent).
Very pleased with it and it's generally in good condition, particularly the mechanicals as it's only done 33k miles! The body has been well 'used' though, and could do with a few touch ups/ straighten outs here and there. Can anybody suggest any good online places to get some of the green paint, I believe the code is G12? Unfortunately I don't know any good paint places close to where I am (Carlisle). Also, can anybody tell me the paint code for the metallic grey that is on the bumpers? It doesn't seem to feature on the specification plate.
Underneath it is totally sound, but everything is covered in surface rust. Am I right in thinking that they obviously didn't put much (any?) rust protection on these from new? I'm planning to coat the underneath in Waxoyl or similar to ensure it lasts well. Also, the front wheel arches seem to be lined with a tough plastic liner which gives good protection. The rears, however, don't seem to have this. Is this normal or are they missing from my truck?
Anyway, that's probably too many questions already so I'll shut up now.
Thanks in advance for any help

paint

hi fieldman,i too live in cumbria and needed paint for my fourtrak green/grey the paint code on my vin plate was nb3 which turns out to be g12 for the green and 168 for the grey/silver.you can buy this at carlisle panel factors 23-31 brook st carlisle tel 01228-534843.they will mix you any quantity and even put it in an aerosol,as for rust proofing i waxoil my trak every year but pay particular attention to the rear wheel arches and body mountings, just ask if you need any more advice i,am no mechanic but have done afew jobs on my own vehicle which would proberly cost an arm and leg at a garage.

Thanks very much for that.

Thanks very much for that. Really useful to know about Carlisle Panel Factors - we haven't been here very long and are still discovering these useful places.
Does yours have the two colour bodywork, or is the grey 168 for the bumpers? My vin plate just says G12 (the truck is all green) but I will check out the 168 as it may be just what I need for the bumpers.
Good advice about the waxoyl - not a job I'm particularly looking forward to but it does work well.
Can you recommend anywhere in Carlisle for service parts such as filters/belts etc?
Where abouts in Cumbria are you? I'm near Brampton.
Cheers for the advice.

Rust bucket

Your paint colour should be "Toad Green Pearl" the paint suppliers will have the code on their paint chips.

Suggest opening rear door, remove the rear of the side trim panels and check for rust on the inside of the wheel arches, if necessary, clean, and treat them anyway as they have a propensity to rust here.

Wheel arch repair panels are not available, only the full quarter panel.

Thanks assassin Have already

Thanks assassin
Have already checked there as I have taken the rear panels out to ply line it. You're quite right, there was just some slight brown marks to show that rust was starting so I cleaned it up, hammerited it and waxoyled it. I'd like to see the rust get through that lot now (although it probably will!).
