Forum:
Hello, I joined as I thought you guys would be the best to ask about second hand parts for my K reg Rocky/fourtrak.
It may be a commercial vehicle - it is a SWB with 3 doors and no rear side windows [no carpets/stereo heating either!].
It's looking a bit battere bnow but is SO reliable I don't want to get rid of it.
It needs a new rear bumper desperately and I'd prefer used as money is very tight.
Eventually would also like to replace the heater rad [quotes for new come in at c£150] the front bumper and it will need new tyres soon.
Any advice on sources for this stuff gratefully received.
Many thanks
Louise
oldish vehicles
Like i keep suggesting to lots of other people with slightly older vehicles, look at scrap yards etc and most definitely go on ebay and type in daihatsu fourtrak you will find what you want with a telephone call.
Full of ideas but no time to do them!!

Many thanks for your answers
Many thanks for your answers I appreciate it - I have [believe it or not!] tried local scrapyards - therein lies my trouble, in that they never seem to have daihatsu parts - I've gotten allsorts of parts from these before [Hainford Hall one of our best and most helpful] but they just don't seem to get old Daihatsu's - they must go on forever and never die!
I have tried Ebay too but I find it hard to be sure it's the right stuff for the right model and don't want the hassle of trying to get a refund from an Ebayer!
I like the idea of breaking down a vehicle for parts/profit - It's worth thinking about for the future thanks for that advice.
I posted here in rather a hurry as I was at work and supposed to be doing some - otherwise I would have mentioned all this before... I eventually found the parts dealers page here but I do wonder if you guys can recommend any of them?
I'm practical but I am a girl and not interested in cars much other than making it go and I do find that some dealers latch on to that and try it on a bit with prices etc.
Any guidance on which one to call andrough price I could expect to pay for a rear bumper/heater rad would be most welcome.
Parts
If you require a number of parts, it may be prudent to look in a number of places, these may include free ads, and papers for a complete vehicle.
MOT failures, accident damaged, vehicles requiring work, such as these with a blown engines, are all viable options.
Breaking a vehicle will inevitably be inconvenient compared to purchasing new parts, but these will allow you to use the parts you need, and sell the rest off through the free ads, or this website. Often, you will cover the cost of your parts and have a small profit for your troubles.
As Fourtrak's bolt together, it will not be a great deal of trouble to dismantle one, except the rusted bolts; also remember that we are vilified by almost everyone at this time so you can also have the added bonus of sticking two fingers up to the environmentalists by saying we even recycle our vehicles, do you.
Heated
Question for you, why do you need to replace your heater radiator, is it leaking, or is it inefficient because it is blocked.
If it is leaking I would suggest another option, try one of the well known brands of sealer for cooling systems, another option is to get it repaired, or have a new core fitted. Repairs can be as simple as soldering the leak, or crimping a cross tube.
If it is inefficient because it is blocked, this can be remedied by opening the heater temperature control valve to the hot position, removing the two feed pipes and flushing it out with a hosepipe. Refill the cooling system after with a mixture of anti freeze and water, anti freeze acts as a corrosion inhibitor and prevents corrosion particles from blocking it.
A perfectly reasonable
A perfectly reasonable question - it burst 2 years ago and flooded the driver area with water. I was reliably informed that it needed replacing - I haven't tried a sealer to be honest because it was a pretty dramatic flood and I believed the guy when he said it was too far gone for that.
